PHILADELPHIA -- For the Philadelphia Eagles to go worst-to-first in the NFC East, they had to win at home. Bye-bye, losing streak. Nick Foles threw for 298 yards and spun free for a touchdown, LeSean McCoy ran for two scores and the Eagles snapped a 10-game losing skid at Lincoln Financial Field with a 24-16 victory over the Washington Redskins on Sunday. A year after finishing 4-12 under Andy Reid, Chip Kelly had guided his Eagles (6-5) to the division lead. Theyre a half-game ahead of idle Dallas (5-5). The defending division champion Redskins rallied in the fourth quarter but fell short, dropping to 3-7. "I dont look at it globally," Kelly said. "We have five games in December and we put ourselves in position where those games are meaningful. Well see where were at Dec. 29." The Eagles hadnt won at home in 413 days since defeating the New York Giants on Sept. 30, 2012. Theyll enter their bye week on a three-game winning streak, having turned things around after consecutive home losses last month. "Not one person on this team was defeated," Foles said. "Everybody in our locker room believed we can win and if you feel that way, its something special. We have to keep the momentum going." Down 24-0 in the fourth quarter, the Redskins rallied behind Robert Griffin IIIs TD passes of 62 yards to Darrel Young and 41 yards to Aldrick Robinson and both 2-point conversions. RG3 then drove the Redskins to the Eagles 18 before his pass off his back foot was intercepted by Brandon Boykin in the end zone. "I was trying to throw the ball in the back of the end zone," he said. "It didnt get to where I wanted it to go. Obviously I was on my heels. Something I can definitely learn from." Foles didnt throw any TD passes after tossing 10 in the past two games. But he still hasnt thrown an interception this year, extending his streak to 199 passes without a pick. Foles tied an NFL record with seven TD passes in a win at Oakland two weeks ago and followed it with three more in a victory at Green Bay. McCoy finished with 77 yards rushing and 73 receiving. He leads the NFL with 1,009 yards on the ground. Foles had a career-best 47 yards rushing. "Were all playing as one," McCoy said. "Earlier in the year, the offence was playing good and defence wasnt or defence was playing good and offence wasnt. Now were clicking. The Redskins started their last drive at their 4 with 3:26 left after a 70-yard punt by Donnie Jones. Griffin completed a 28-yard pass to Santana Moss on third-and-25 and Washington eventually moved to the 18 before the pick. Griffin was 17 of 35 for 264 yards and ran for 44 yards. "Took us until the fourth quarter to make a couple plays," Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said. "We had our opportunity at the end. Just couldnt take advantage of it." A 33-27 win at Washington in the season opener kick-started the Kelly Era and raised expectations in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year. The Eagles lost the next three games before winning five of seven. Foles replaced an injured Michael Vick in the first half of a victory at the Giants on Oct. 6, and has led the Eagles to a 4-1 record since. The Redskins couldnt generate much offence until Griffin connected with Young after scrambling early in the fourth quarter. He hit Nick Williams on the conversion. Robinson made a nice adjustment to catch Griffins underthrown deep pass for the next score, and RG3 dived in from the 2 for the conversion. But Washington couldnt complete the comeback. Foles ran in from the 4 for a 7-0 lead, even showing some athleticism with a spin move after getting hit at the 2 and then reaching for the end zone. A 49-yard pass to McCoy set up the score. One play after Brent Celek turned a tight-end screen pass into a 42-yard gain, McCoy ran in untouched from the 1. The Redskins drove to the Eagles 8 before Griffin was sacked by Connor Barwin and fumbled. The ball popped straight up and was recovered by Fletcher Cox. The Eagles turned that into a 24-yard field goal by Alex Henery to make it 17-0. McCoy left briefly after injuring his right hamstring in the second quarter and scored on a 1-yard run to put the Eagles up 24-0 in the third. The Baltimore Orioles earned a 3-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre as Buehrle lasted five innings, bringing his total to 194 1-3 for the season. "Obviously with five innings I wasnt very pleased with myself," he said. "I got out of some big jams and kind of gave us a chance there for a bit." After going through a stretch of nine starts in which he was 6-0, Buehrle (11-9) has lost his past two starts. Buehrle allowed six hits, three walks and three runs (two earned), an improvement from his last start in which he gave up 12 hits and eight runs in against the Los Angeles Angels. A two-run double by Danny Valencia in the third and a bases-loaded walk to Chris Davis in the fourth were the keys to his loss. "It was a battle for him today," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. "But he has that knack of hanging around and surviving and keeping you in the game. Its been a long year for him. He kept the game in check without his best stuff." Adam Lind homered for the Blue Jays as they picked up their fifth loss of their last six games. The Orioles (79-70), who entered Sunday 3 1-2 games removed from an American League wild card spot won two of three from the Blue Jays (68-81) to take the three-game series. Orioles right-hander Miguel Gonzalez (10-7) was removed from the game after 5 1-3 innings after a visit by manager Buck Showalter and a trainer. He had just struck out Lind to open the sixth and the club reported that it he suffered a right groin strain. Gonzalez held the Blue Jays to one run on six hits to pick up the win and give him a career high. "I think well have a better idea tomorrow or the next day," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said of the extent of the injury to Gonzalez. "He said he felt it two pitches before." Jim Johnson pitched the ninth for his 45th save, despite giving up a leadoff single to Anthony Gose. Buehrle could not pinpoint the reason for his recent struggles. "Im not the top workout guy but I get back there and do enough stuff to try to finish strong and go deep into games late in the season," he said. "I dont know if its getting a little worn out. The last couple of outings havent been too good. "My pitch count was getting high and its not allowing me to go deep into games. I just need to make better pitches and get early contact." Lind led off the bottom of the second with his 21st homer of the season to open the scoring.dddddddddddd Valencia doubled in two runs with two out in the third to put the Orioles into a 2-1 lead. The double scored Nick Markakis, who led off the inning with a single and Adam Jones, who walked with two out. "Any time you get a hit with runners in scoring position its huge, especially with two outs," Valencia said. "My at-bat before that, I left two on in the same situation, so it was nice to come through and get those runs." The Orioles added a run in the fourth to go ahead 3-1 when Chris Davis walked with the bases loaded. He forced in Michael Morse who reached first on an error when shortstop Jose Reyes dropped his line drive. Morse took third on a double by Brian Roberts. After Davis walked, Blue Jays second baseman Ryan Goins ended the inning on a diving play on a ground ball by Jones. "There were a couple of close calls (on balls and strikes ), balls were finding the holes," Buehrle said. "When youre going good those things find your position guys, youre getting strikes called or getting close pitches. Its going your way. "Ive got to do a better job of not walking a guy with the bases loaded. At the same time you know what Chris Davis can do and you dont want to give in to him, a walk is better than a home run. Overall it wasnt the best today but it was alright." The Blue Jays threatened to cut into the lead in the seventh. Edwin Encarnacion hit a ground-rule double against Francisco Rodriguez and Brett Lawrie, who had singled with two out had to stop at third. After Lind was intentionally walked, Tommy Hunter replaced Rodriguez and struck out Moises Sierra to end the threat. "They got out of some jams," Gibbons said. "Theyre a good ball club, theyre right in the thick of it. They dont throw a bunch of pitchers at you that can overpower you but they can all pitch. "They all have the ability to make a key pitch at the right time ... we got our hits but just couldnt get that big one." Notes: Attendance at Rogers Centre was 22,331. ... After hitting a home run in each of his first two games back from the disabled list, Blue Jays CF Colby Rasmus was given the day off because of what the club termed "overall soreness". ... Orioles SS J.J. Hardy was 0-for-4 to end a seven-game hit streak. ... The Blue Jays have Monday off before facing the New York Yankees in a three-game series at Rogers Centre on Tuesday. RHP R.A. Dickey (12-12, 4.38 earned-run average) will start the opener for the Blue Jays with LHP Andy Pettitte (10-9, 4.04 ERA) starting for the Yankees.
